Distributors and forehearths are glass conditioning systems which are vital components of a glass melting plant. They are cooling, homogenising and forwarding the molten glass to the production machines. The HORN® glass conditioning systems allow specific conditioning of the molten glass for each particular forming process while ensuring the highest possible temperature homogeneity (K-factor) of the gob. Glass conditioning always and without exception starts in the distributor and is continued and completed in the forehearth. Therefore the HORN® distributors and forehearths are interconnected systems and are engineered as single units for the conditioning process.
The HORN® distributor design is an up-to-date construction employing all technical requirements.
This forehearth design is for low and medium capacity and accurate temperature adjustment.
This forehearth system is characterised by the most advanced technology in forehearth design for high-pull forehearths and the highest temperature homogeneity requirements (K-factor).
The GCS® all electric design allows a wide range of gob temperatures required to produce different sized articles.
A colouring forehearth is a favourable method for the production of coloured glass without having to change the colour in the entire furnace. The advantages are having two colours simultaneously and the possibility of a temporary colouring process.
The HORN® stirrer system enables mechanical treatment of the glass at the downstream part of the melting and conditioning at the equalising zone.
The CORA® system is a specially designed supply skid to pre-mix gas and combustion air in a constant ratio for combustion inside the distributor and forehearths. The major advantage of this combustion system is its nearly 100% stable, COnstant RAtio in gas/air supply over the entire control range under varying operating conditions.
The gas/air mixture burner is typically used together with the gas skid CORA® to heat the glass distribution channel and forehearths.
The electric forehearth heating, also called forehearth boosting, is used to improve the glass quality / homogeneity. With specially designed molybdenum forehearth electrodes, the power will be inserted into the glass.
VARI-DRAIN® is your solution to resolve the problem of contaminations, such as cat scratches or zircon cords. HORN® has developed a drainage system, which enables the draining of small glass quantities from the forehearth.
