Heat Up

HEAT UP: FURNACES

GENERAL

When the furnace is built, the whole system has to be heated up in order to produce high quality glass afterwards. A precise and controlled heating process is required to meet the requirements of the special heat up curve.

This process takes up to 2 or 3 weeks, depending on the furnace size and the used refractory materials. During this time, a continuous execution of the heating is essential. HORN®'s experienced staff in combination with own equipment guarantees a successful furnace heat up. High velocity hot air burners with own gas skids, combustion air blowers and flame failure units are used and in addition to that our external temperature recorders and thermocouples come into play. Furthermore, the expansion control of the refractory material is also supported by HORN®'s separate equipment.
