HORN® has found a “Made in Germany” solution for the important field of flue gas/combustion air reversing systems: the reversing system types RDS-F (for float glass furnaces) and RDS-E (for end fired furnaces) developed in-house.
HORN® regenerative heated glass melting furnaces can be compared with a mechanical clockwork. All components have to interlock to ensure perfect combustion of the fuel. Reversing systems are permanently installed in the flue gas channel of the melting end.
By reversing at 20 minute intervals, the flow of the flue gas is blocked on one regenerator side, and the passage of the combustion air for firing the furnace is unblocked.
The slider mechanism of the reversing system is installed in both the right and left flue gas channels. Depending on the firing side, there is always one change-over slider open and one closed. An electric gear motor or a pneumatic cylinder automatically actuates the slide plates at the pre-set interval cycle length. The slide plates are manufactured of massive cast iron and are suitable for an environment with temperatures up to 650 °C short-time duty 750 °C.
The HORN® reversing system stands for quality. It is gas-proof and also remains gas-tight after many years of operation in a high-temperature range. The HORN® reversing system is absolutely reliable.
HORN® reversing systems are available in several sizes, both for cross fired and regenerative end fired furnace systems.
