Member of the German Parliament (MdB) Uli Grötsch visits HORN in Ploessberg

Recently Uli Grötsch (Member of the German Parliament), Marcus Fritsch (Market Councillor, Market Plößberg) and Hans-Dieter Dietl (Chairman of the Local SPD Association) were invited by HORN Glass Industries AG for a visit at the company's site in Plößberg. Uli Grötsch, member of the German Parliament, and his companions were warmly welcomed by the HORN management team led by CEO Stephan Meindl. Uli Grötsch was looking for an exchange between politics and business and was happy to accept the invitation for a talk at the HORN headquarters in Ploessberg.

Markus Zant first explained the field of activity of HORN Glass Industries AG to Uli Grötsch with the help of a company presentation. Stephan Meindl then explained the development of the company - from the original furnace maker's business to a leading supplier of glass melting technology for complete plants with a high degree of vertical integration and manufacturing depth. In doing so, he presented the current projects to the visitors and emphasised that although the packaging material glass would be increasingly in demand, the glass manufacturing process is very energy-intensive and currently very cost-intensive. HORN already made provisions for the future here in the past and is optimally equipped in terms of energy supply, not least through the acquisition of the melting technology business unit of JSJ Jodeit GmbH.

The topics of recruiting trainees and the shortage of skilled workers were also addressed. HORN Glass Industries AG currently has two apprenticeship places to fill for 2022: Technical system planner (m/f/d) steel and metal construction technology as well as metal worker (m/f/d) specialising in construction technology. In addition, we are looking for employees in many different specialist areas, such as "Internal Sales Representative (m/f/d)", "Design Engineer (m/f/d)", "ERP System Administrator/IT Administrator (m/f/d)", and many more.

Marcus Fritsch emphasised that "we can be proud to find such a solid industry in the market town of Plößberg." Uli Grötsch also confirmed that "HORN Glass Industries AG is playing right at the top." He welcomed the very important exchange between politics and business and assured that the economy was receiving special attention, especially in the current situation. "The continued existence of the companies and the safeguarding of jobs is priority 1," Grötsch emphasised.

After the promising exchange and a small snack, the guests were given an insight into the diversity of production during an exclusive tour of the ultra-modern company buildings and HORN's own manufacturing department.
